Slow Children at Play

I may find this to be a little funnier than I should considering my situation, but alas I do have a fairly twisted sense of humor. I know a woman with this sign that is insistent on having it put out whenever the children are playing. I sit out with her nanny, we put the sign up and watch all of our special needs kids aka slow children play.

My Book Review

Jennifer Weiner-Good In Bed. Love it.

This was the first book I read by Jennifer Weiner-consequently it was also the first book she wrote, four others had been published by the time I tried this one.

It is a story about a plus size women dealing with body issues, dumb boys, life...you get the gist. It starts out with Cannie and her long time; pot smoking, parent subsidizing, "thesis paper" writing; boyfriend Evan taking a break. He thinks the break is a break up so he moves out and starts life. She on the other hand thinks he's coming back and wants him to come back, although it's unclear why. Then a friend calls and tells her the the boyfriend has gotten a column in a women's magazine, the columns name-Good In Bed. The first piece, loving a larger woman is an act of courage in our world.

The book is funny, smart and not as Bridgett Jonesish as it may sound from my description. She's a believable character and you feel like you could be her-that is if you're bigger than a size 8. Definitely worth the read as well as all her other books. You may have seen the movie In Her Shoes...that is also a Jennifer Weiner book, which I am currently reading. Stay tuned for more books worth your time.

say what?

Okay-I bought this book off of amazon, received it, read it and came to the realization that I'm slow. Not only did I take a pen to the book so that I could read each paragraph 6 times then rephrase it, I also put it down and came back to it 3 different times-same ending-I'm slow.
I have Sproul's study bible, because I was horrendously jealous of a friend, and I can read the notes with out any aids pen or dictionary...so naturally I thought I could read a book he had written. I was very wrong. I had one friend describe his work as "lofty". Frankly that's not the word I would choose but I digress.
I asked a couple of friends about it and haven't found one that has read or attempted to read it yet, but I'm on the search-for a cliff notes version via their mouth as soon as I find one. While discussing the dreaded book I had a genius idea, as much of a genius idea as a slow person can have, that some one at the church should teach a study/class on reformed theology...we could call it...RTF for reformed theology foundations! yes it is genius...I can even think of a time, place and teacher... Wednesday nights, ELCC-couches, Lorrie who is with me? Shall we start a petition? We shall rise up and learn!

Updates

Updates on previous blogs are as follows (and just on news that's made its way around)

1. Sadly we couldn't come to an agreement with the people that made an offer on our house so we are back at square one-not to mention 3 more houses went up for sale in our neighborhood and one of them is our same floor plan-nothin' like a little "friendly" competition.

2. More sad news; Jackson tested positive for strep on Monday, Tyler tested negative on Tuesday but the called and said that it grew out positive later in the week. I ended up at the emergency care this evening and also have strep as well as some bronchial thing. Andy has a sore throat and feels warm, but he said there was too much paper work to fill out and he would wait until Monday...Not my idea of, well, a good idea.

3. I thought there was something else to update, but now I can't remember...

4. I went to a Michael W. Smith concert with Melissa and Jeannie and Sheryl (I think) last night that was very fun...I just wish they could have turned the AC up a bit more-my toes were just on the edge of numb and, really, that's not fun for anyone. I especially like how sad Mitch got with us on the phone and told us to behave. NO MORE GIGGLING!

5. Exciting the my favorite one year old is...turning one tomorrow! Happy Birthday Miles Avery Gindlesperger. Visit him at small-that's Miles, medium, big and girl

We got and offer

The neighborhood we hope God has chosen for us-Like my spin, if we don't get it then God doesn't want us there!

We got an offer on our house today; it went on the market April 1st so we can't complain. Pray that it works out and that this is the buyer for us, we are so ready to move.

We have been looking around, but haven't been sold on anything yet. So far this community seems the best; it is in Hall county, but Buford City annexed it so we get Buford city schools. Best of all Buford city has no special needs program so we will still get special needs services through Gwinnett county. All this with Hall county taxes-and so far-no emissions! The neighborhood is north on Buford hwy about a mile past Friendship Rd on the right. www.bowenhomes.com

The "Band"

From the women's retreat :)

Even More Guests

I don't have a picture this time because the kids were screaming and Andy was on his way home so I thought when he caught it we could take a picture-but no. I will spare you the gruesome details, suffice it to say Andy was home an hour late and by the time he got here the animal had disapeared. Want to know what it was? The nasty lizard had another nasty lizard with it. This one was in Jackson's room behind the dresser and was a bit smaller. I was slightly angry with Andy for not coming straight home and getting the lizard and no it was roaming the house again.

Then this afternoon Tyler told me there was a lizard behind the curtains-I went and looked-and to my surprise there was. I took matters into my own hands and caught the lizard in a nutri grain box and put it on the counter with a box on top. Everybody went down for a nap and then I heard Tyler in the kitchen came out and he was with the cat trying to get the lizard. I got there before they got it out and moved it to my china cabinet to wait for Andy.

Again I hear Tyler out of his room and I hear a glass door-my china cabinet-and to no one's surprise the box was down a glass had fallen and the lizard was no where to be seen. I sum this up with one statement...Mommy is not so proud!

More Guests

I came home from the grocery store and found this nasty, gross, yucky lizard thing in my kitchen-I'm guessing the kitty brought him in for me. I put it out on the porch and it stayed there for a couple hours then disapeared. While I was looking for it I saw a big ugly frog-sorry no pics. Tyler did poke it a bit though and then he went into the nest that we found the rabbit in a few weeks ago.

Baby Mouse

The baby animals just seem to find me-by way of my kitty cats mouth. On Saturday she brought home a baby mouse without a scratch on him. He was so teeny tiny and cute and he loved me. I let the kids hold him and he would come back to me lay down and close his eyes in my hand. It's too bad I'm not in the business of raising baby mice b/c he was too cute, but alas, I'm not. When I took him back outside to set him free he cried-a lot of noise for something so small-and when I put him on the hill near the bushes he wouldn't leave. I went back later to check on him and he was gone so I guess he gave up on me.
There was one more picture of Jackson holding him, but thanks to my skirt it was a little too personal to post.

I think I love weddings...

And then I remember that I don't. I like to get dressed up, and I like to be one of the married people there, and I like the listed to the marriage charge and remember my vows. I do not like the food, cake, bad music, saying hi to people I don't know or remember.

Andy and I went to the wedding of a guy that lived next door to Andy growing up, and the only reason I mention it is because I LOVED my dress and I wanted to post a picture of it-

And a couple more Bday Pics

Tyler blowing out the candles at his "family" party

Tyler's 4th birthday party

I now remember why I didn't have a birthday party for Jackson; because you can't have just one-oh no-there must be many many parties so that all the peeps are included. We had a family party, a friends party, a public school party and a preschool party. It takes a full year to recover from that much partying, hence Jackson doesn't get a birthday-party or 4. Here are some pictures from Tyler's friends party.

Women's Retreat

I won't put any names down because "some" people are afraid that they will be tracked by their name and a picture on a blog-then robbed, assaulted and killed-so no names, but their will be pictures-unless of course someone gets really sad about it and then I'll remove the post.
And for the girls who thought it would be really funny to turn when the pictures was being taken...here is the view of your back-you don't get any faces on the blog.

Easter Pictures

It's kind of hard to smile when it's 10 degrees outside and the sun is shining in your eyes, but I think we pulled it off.

I had to wear the drapery dress since-once again-it was freezing cold. Jackson decided that his lime green crocs went better with his blue plaid pants than, say, something like brown loafers. We had a goal of matching but with the weather change that plan went right out the window.
